Вакансия: RU>EN Editor (Very High-Quality)
I need an editor for English texts translated from Russian in the IT domain for a well-established company. This is a permanent position (at least 12 months, with a good chance for more to come).
Please find all conditions and requirements below and, if you think you are a good fit, feel free to apply!
Please submit your applications in English. We won’t be talking in Russian before I am fully sure you are proficient in English. I will discard all applications and/or cover letters submitted other than in English.
*IMPORTANT:* Make sure to provide detailed info on your skills and relevant experience in your cover letter. I will immediately decline *all* applications with boilerplate-like cover letters (e.g. "I speak very good English, I wanna take part in your project, please hire me").
Working conditions
• Long-term contract of a civil legal nature (Geh-Peh-Khah). This is non-negotiable.
• Flat monthly rate starting January (per word rate in December, if we hire you before January).
• Work from home using your own Windows-based desktop PC. (No Mac or Linux is possible.)
• Work in a team: one senior editor, two regular editors, five translators (you will be the third regular editor). We all report to the localization manager.
• Start date: ASAP (there is a lot of work to do right away).
Requirements
• You are based in Russia and able to enter into a civil legal nature (Geh-Peh-Khah) agreement.
• Your English is impeccable and, ideally, near-native. You perfectly know what Runglish is and how to avoid it at all costs.
• You have experience in translating and/or editing IT texts. You will be mostly dealing with help documentation that is not very technical, but you must understand the main concepts and style.
• You are proficient in using CAT tools as a linguist (ideally, MemoQ, but any CAT tool experience will do).
• You have eagle eyes for spotting any errors, from typos to incorrect or clunky sentence structure.
• You always aim to deliver lightweight, easy-to-read texts with perfect flow.
• You always meet deadlines and are good with time management.
• You are a team player.
Nice to have (but not absolutely required)
• Experience with markup languages (ideally, Markdown).
• General IT knowledge and basic understanding of cloud architecture and virtualization.
• Handy with versioning tools (ideally, GitHub) and knowledgeable in working with pull requests.
Path to hiring
• Initial bid screening. (Again: all cover letters in Russian or "boilerplates" will be turned down immediately.)
• Test assignment (should not take over two hours for a professional linguist).
• Online interview in English.
• Time to take final decision on our side.
• Offer negotiation and onboarding.
Happy bidding!
