We are seeking an experienced Tournament & Online Gaming Events Moderator to oversee and manage competitive online gaming tournaments. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of esports logic, tournament formats, cheating prevention, and edge case resolution. You will ensure fair play, enforce rules, and provide a seamless competitive experience for players and viewers.
Key Responsibilities:
Tournament Execution:
Set up, monitor, and moderate online gaming tournaments across various titles (e.g., MOBAs, FPS, Battle Royale, Fighting Games).
Ensure tournaments run smoothly by managing brackets, schedules, and player communications.
Handle live tournament operations, including match starts, pauses, disconnections, and rule enforcement.
Fair Play & Anti-Cheat Enforcement:
Detect and investigate suspicious behavior, cheating tactics, and exploits.
Work with anti-cheat tools and replay analysis to validate disputes.
Issue penalties or disqualifications when rules are violated.
Edge Case & Conflict Resolution:
Resolve disputes between players regarding rules, technical issues, or match outcomes.
Make judgment calls on ambiguous situations based on tournament guidelines.
Document incidents and provide clear explanations for rulings.
Community & Player Support:
Communicate tournament rules, updates, and decisions to participants.
Assist players with registration, check-ins, and technical troubleshooting.
Maintain a professional and positive environment for competitors and viewers.
Format & Rule Expertise:
Understand different tournament structures (Swiss, Single/Double Elimination, Round Robin, Gauntlet, etc.).
Adapt rulesets for custom events, qualifiers, and finals.
Suggest improvements to tournament formats for better competitive integrity.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
1+ years moderating online gaming tournaments or esports events.
Familiarity with multiple game titles and their competitive ecosystems.
Knowledge of common cheating methods and how to detect them.
Technical Skills:
English at C1 or higher.
Proficiency with tournament platforms (e.g., Battlefy, Challonge, Toornament, Faceit).
Experience with streaming tools (OBS, Twitch/YouTube moderation) is a plus.
Basic understanding of networking issues affecting online play (ping, desync, server problems).
Soft Skills:
Strong decision-making under pressure.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) for player interactions.
Calm and diplomatic conflict resolution abilities.
This is a 6 to 9h per day contract-based job, depending on the best candidate's availability. Pay is in USDT.
