Purpose of the Role

Mexico is one of the largest and most operationally complex payment markets in LATAM .
Cash-based methods dominate. Card payments are unstable. Banking infrastructure is asymmetric. OXXO and SPEI availability directly impacts conversion and revenue.

The purpose of this role is clear:
users in Mexico must always be able to deposit and withdraw funds using familiar local methods , regardless of OXXO outages, SPEI limitations, or bank behavior.

If a user in Mexico cannot pay quickly and clearly , this is not a market issue.
It is a payments failure .

Ownership Scope:

1. Mexico Payment Architecture

• Design multi-method / multi-PSP payment schemes.

• Build fallback scenarios for OXXO or SPEI degradation.

• Balance UX simplicity, processing speed, and risk exposure.

2. PSPs and Banks

• Own relationships with local PSPs and aggregators.

• Rotate providers when performance degrades or blockings occur.

• Control limits, caps, and processing delays.

3. Performance and Stability

• Success rates across key payment methods.

• Deposit coverage across the market.

• Time-to-Credit and Time-to-Withdrawal.

• Hands-on management of pending and failed transactions.

4. Risk and Antifraud

• Work closely with Fraud and Risk teams.

• Control refunds, reversals, and chargebacks.

• Balance growth with long-term payment stability.

5. Operational Readiness

• Design and execute anti-crisis scenarios.

• Support Customer Support during payment incidents.

• Direct communication with Product and Tech teams.

KPIs You Own:

• Deposit Success Rate (OXXO / SPEI / wallets).

• Deposit Coverage (% of players with at least one working method).

• Uptime of key payment methods.

• Time-to-Recovery after failures.

• GGR uplift driven by payment improvements.

Requirements:

Must-Have:

• Proven hands-on payments experience in Mexico .

• Practical experience with OXXO and SPEI .

• Background in high-risk industries : gambling, betting, crypto.

• Strong understanding of cash-based UX .

• Willingness and ability to operate in an unstable environment.

Strong Plus:

• Existing contacts with local PSPs.

• Broader LATAM experience (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia).

• Proven cases of restoring payment flows after blockings.

This Role Is Not for You If:

• You have only worked with card payments.

• You have no experience with offline or cash-based methods.

• You avoid crisis-driven decision making.
